Vocalist Masafumi Gotoh's carefree singing style hasn't really changed at all since this was released, still coming out rough and a tad wobbly, which has always been part of the appeal. This song still packs as big a punch now as it did back when it graced TV screens in the opening of anime series 'Naruto', with its instantly recognisable yet simple bassline and explosive rock opening. A lot of fans may have become acquainted with the band's work through the first track on the album, Haruka kanata.
Released on 18th January, it is their first greatest hits compilation release.Īs they have had to pack almost a decade's worth of greatest hits into a single album, this release consists of a whopping seventeen tracks which are ordered roughly chronologically.
Although they had been releasing mini-albums since 2000, their latest ‘best of’ collection, BEST HIT AKG, spans from the beginning of their major success until the present day. Also known as AKFG and Ajikan, indie rockers ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION exploded in popularity in 2003 with a little help from some huge anime series which used their songs as opening themes.
